About us

We came to Costa Rica from England in 2007 equipped with only basic Spanish learned from a CD. Realizing that we needed to improve our language skills quickly we decided the best way to get lots of speaking practice would be to meet Ticos who were learning English and who would be interested in an exchange.

Finding no site like this existed, we had the idea to create interambiocentralamerica.com to make it easier for other newcomers to learn the language, make friends, and to integrate and assimilate into a new culture, while giving something valuable and much needed in return - English practice with native speakers.
